Follow these structured procedures to ensure a thorough inspection of critical accessibility components in your wheelchair-accessible van.
Lift/Ramp Operational Test
- Park on level ground with adequate clearance around door
- Ensure vehicle is in park with parking brake engaged
- Verify safety interlocks are functioning properly
- Deploy lift/ramp using normal controls (observe smooth operation)
- Check that lift/ramp deploys fully to ground level
- Verify platform is level and stable in deployed position
- Test rollstops/barriers in both raised and lowered positions
- Load test with appropriate weight if possible
- Stow lift/ramp completely, verifying proper latching
- Repeat cycle at least three times to ensure consistent operation
Wheelchair Securement Test
- Inspect floor tracking for debris and clean if necessary
- Check that all floor anchorages are securely mounted
